사도가 많은 이가 건전한 교리를 받아들이지 않을지라도 디모데에게 근면하라고 엄숙히 명하다. (1-5) 임박한 자신의 순교로써 그 명령을 강조하다. (6-8) 그가 속히 와 달라고 요청하다. (9-13) 그가 자신을 버린 자들에 대해 경고하고 불평하다; 그리고 하늘 나라로의 자신의 보존에 대한 믿음을 표현하다. (14-18) 우정 어린 인사와 그의 늘 있는 축복. (19-22)
17Notwithstanding the Lordstood with me, andstrengthenedme; thatbyme the preaching might be fully known, andthatall the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
17 But the Lord was by my side and gave me strength; so that through me the news might be given out in full measure, and all the Gentiles might give ear: and I was taken out of the mouth of the lion.
17 주께서 내 곁에 서서 나를 강건케 하심은 나로 말미암아 전도의 말씀이 온전히 전파되어 이방인으로 듣게 하려 하심이니 내가 사자의 입에서 건지웠느니라
