Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:21 You have knowledge that it was said in old times, You may not put to death; and, Whoever puts to death will be in danger of being judged:21 옛 사람에게 말한바 살인치 말라 누구든지 살인하면 심판을 받게 되리라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be in danger of being judged; and he who says to his brother, Raca, will be in danger from the Sanhedrin; and whoever says, You foolish one, will be in danger of the hell of fire.22 나는 너희에게 이르노니 형제에게 노하는 자마다 심판을 받게 되고 형제를 대하여 라가라 하는 자는 공회에 잡히게 되고 미련한 놈이라 하는 자는 지옥 불에 들어가게 되리라
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;23 If then you are making an offering at the altar and there it comes to your mind that your brother has something against you,23 그러므로 예물을 제단에 드리다가 거기서 네 형제에게 원망 들을만한 일이 있는줄 생각나거든
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.24 While your offering is still before the altar, first go and make peace with your brother, then come and make your offering.24 예물을 제단 앞에 두고 먼저 가서 형제와 화목하고 그 후에 와서 예물을 드리라
Agree ㆍ with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.25 Come to an agreement quickly with him who has a cause against you at law, while you are with him on the way, for fear that he may give you up to the judge and the judge may give you to the police and you may be put into prison.25 너를 송사하는 자와 함께 길에 있을 때에 급히 사화하라 그 송사하는 자가 너를 재판관에게 내어주고 재판관이 관예에게 내어주어 옥에 가둘까 염려하라
Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.26 Truly I say to you, You will not come out from there till you have made payment of the very last farthing.26 진실로 네게 이르노니 네가 호리라도 남김이 없이 다 갚기 전에는 결단코 거기서 나오지 못하리라
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:27 You have knowledge that it was said, You may not have connection with another man's wife:27 또 간음치 말라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.28 But I say to you that everyone whose eyes are turned on a woman with desire has had connection with her in his heart.28 나는 너희에게 이르노니 여자를 보고 음욕을 품는 자마다 마음에 이미 간음하였느니라
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.29 And if your right eye is a cause of trouble to you, take it out and put it away from you; because it is better to undergo the loss of one part, than for all your body to go into hell.29 만일 네 오른눈이 너로 실족케 하거든 빼어 내버리라 네 백체 중 하나가 없어지고 온 몸이 지옥에 던지우지 않는 것이 유익하며
And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.30 And if your right hand is a cause of trouble to you, let it be cut off and put it away from you; because it is better to undergo the loss of one part, than for all your body to go into hell.30 또한 만일 네 오른손이 너로 실족케 하거든 찍어 내버리라 네 백체 중 하나가 없어지고 온 몸이 지옥에 던지우지 않는 것이 유익하니라
It hath been said ㆍ, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:31 Again, it was said, Whoever puts away his wife has to give her a statement in writing for this purpose:31 또 일렀으되 누구든지 아내를 버리거든 이혼 증서를 줄것이라 하였으나
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.32 But I say to you that everyone who puts away his wife for any other cause but the loss of her virtue, makes her false to her husband; and whoever takes her as his wife after she is put away, is no true husband to her.32 나는 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 음행한 연고 없이 아내를 버리면 이는 저로 간음하게 함이요 또 누구든지 버린 여자에게 장가드는 자도 간음함이니라
Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:33 Again, you have knowledge that it was said in old times, Do not take false oaths, but give effect to your oaths to the Lord:33 또 옛 사람에게 말한바 헛 맹세를 하지 말고 네 맹세한 것을 주께 지키라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:34 But I say to you, Take no oaths at all: not by the heaven, because it is the seat of God;34 나는 너희에게 이르노니 도무지 맹세하지 말찌니 하늘로도 말라 이는 하나님의 보좌임이요
Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool ㆍ: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.35 Or by the earth, because it is the resting-place for his foot; or by Jerusalem, because it is the town of the great King.35 땅으로도 말라 이는 하나님의 발등상임이요 예루살렘으로도 말라 이는 큰 임금의 성임이요
Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.36 You may not take an oath by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black.36 네 머리로도 말라 이는 네가 한 터럭도 희고 검게 할 수 없음이라
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.37 But let your words be simply, Yes or No: and whatever is more than these is of the Evil One.37 오직 너희 말은 옳다 옳다, 아니라 아니라 하라 이에서 지나는 것은 악으로 좇아 나느니라
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:38 You have knowledge that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:38 또 눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로 갚으라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.39 But I say to you, Do not make use of force against an evil man; but to him who gives you a blow on the right side of your face let the left be turned.39 나는 너희에게 이르노니 악한 자를 대적지 말라 누구든지 네 오른편 뺨을 치거든 왼편도 돌려 대며
And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.40 And if any man goes to law with you and takes away your coat, do not keep back your robe from him.40 또 너를 송사하여 속옷을 가지고자 하는 자에게 겉옷까지도 가지게 하며
And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.41 And whoever makes you go one mile, go with him two.41 또 누구든지 너로 억지로 오리를 가게 하거든 그 사람과 십리를 동행하고
Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.42 Give to him who comes with a request, and keep not your property from him who would for a time make use of it.42 네게 구하는 자에게 주며 네게 꾸고자 하는 자에게 거절하지 말라
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.43 You have knowledge that it was said, Have love for your neighbour, and hate for him who is against you:43 또 네 이웃을 사랑하고 네 원수를 미워하라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;44 But I say to you, Have love for those who are against you, and make prayer for those who are cruel to you;44 나는 너희에게 이르노니 너희 원수를 사랑하며 너희를 핍박하는 자를 위하여 기도하라
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.45 So that you may be the sons of your Father in heaven; for his sun gives light to the evil and to the good, and he sends rain on the upright man and on the sinner.45 이같이 한즉 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 아들이 되리니 이는 하나님이 그 해를 악인과 선인에게 비취게 하시며 비를 의로운 자와 불의한 자에게 내리우심이니라
For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?46 For if you have love for those who have love for you, what credit is it to you? do not the tax-farmers the same?46 너희가 너희를 사랑하는 자를 사랑하면 무슨 상이 있으리요 세리도 이같이 아니하느냐
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?47 And if you say, Good day, to your brothers only, what do you do more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same?47 또 너희가 너희 형제에게만 문안하면 남보다 더 하는 것이 무엇이냐 이방인들도 이같이 아니하느냐
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.48 Be then complete in righteousness, even as your Father in heaven is complete.48 그러므로 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 온전하심과 같이 너희도 온전하라
