Q69. How is it signified and sealed unto thee in holy Baptism that thou hast part in the one sacrifice of Christ on the cross?

Thus: that Christ has appointed this outward washing with water, and has joined therewith this promise, that I am washed with His blood and Spirit from the pollution of my soul, that is, from all my sins, as certainly as I am washed outwardly with water whereby commonly the filthiness of the body is taken away.

문 69. 거룩한 세례는 당신이 그리스도의 단 한 번의 십자가 희생에 참여한다는 사실을 어떻게 나타내고 인쳐 줍니까?

그리스도께서는 물로 씻는 이 외적 예식을 제정하시고 다음 약속을 함께 주셨습니다. 곧 몸의 더러움을 씻어 내는 물로 제가 외적으로 씻기는 것이 확실한 것처럼, 그분의 피와 성령으로 제 영혼의 더러움, 곧 저의 모든 죄에서 씻김 받는다는 약속입니다.

Q70. What is it to be washed with the blood and Spirit of Christ?

It is to have the forgiveness of sins from God, through grace, for the sake of Christ's blood, which He shed for us in His sacrifice on the cross; and also to be renewed by the Holy Ghost, and sanctified to be members of Christ, that so we may more and more die unto sin, and lead holy and unblamable lives.

문 70. 그리스도의 피와 성령으로 씻김 받는다는 것은 무슨 뜻입니까?

그리스도께서 십자가에서 자신을 제물로 드리며 우리를 위해 흘리신 피 때문에, 은혜로 하나님께 죄 사함을 받는다는 뜻입니다. 또한 성령으로 새롭게 되고 거룩하게 되어 그리스도의 지체가 되며, 점점 더 죄에 대하여 죽고 거룩하고 흠 없는 삶을 살아간다는 뜻입니다.

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

25 맑은 물로 너희에게 뿌려서 너희로 정결케 하되 곧 너희 모든 더러운 것에서와 모든 우상을 섬김에서 너희를 정결케 할 것이며

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

26 또 새 영을 너희 속에 두고 새 마음을 너희에게 주되 너희 육신에서 굳은 마음을 제하고 부드러운 마음을 줄 것이며

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

27 또 내 신을 너희 속에 두어 너희로 내 율례를 행하게 하리니 너희가 내 규례를 지켜 행할찌라

1 In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

2 곧 하나님 아버지의 미리 아심을 따라 성령의 거룩하게 하심으로 순종함과 예수 그리스도의 피 뿌림을 얻기 위하여 택하심을 입은 자들에게 편지하노니 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 더욱 많을찌어다

요한계시록 7:14

14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

14 내가 가로되 내 주여 당신이 알리이다 하니 그가 나더러 이르되 이는 큰 환난에서 나오는 자들인데 어린양의 피에 그 옷을 씻어 희게 하였느니라

히브리서 9:14

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

14 하물며 영원하신 성령으로 말미암아 흠 없는 자기를 하나님께 드린 그리스도의 피가 어찌 너희 양심으로 죽은 행실에서 깨끗하게 하고 살아계신 하나님을 섬기게 못하겠느뇨

Q71. Where has Christ promised that we are as certainly washed with His blood and Spirit as with the water of Baptism?

In the institution of Baptism, which runs thus: Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. He. that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved y but he that believeth not, shall be damned. This promise is also repeated where the Scripture calls Baptism the washing of regeneration and the washing away of sins.

문 71. 그리스도께서는 우리가 세례의 물로 씻기는 것처럼 확실하게 그분의 피와 성령으로 씻김 받는다고 어디에서 약속하셨습니까?

세례를 제정하실 때 약속하셨습니다. 그 말씀은 다음과 같습니다. “그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 족속으로 제자를 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주고.” “믿고 세례를 받는 사람은 구원을 얻을 것이요 믿지 않는 사람은 정죄를 받으리라.” 성경이 세례를 “중생의 씻음”과 죄를 씻는 것이라고 부르는 곳에서도 이 약속이 반복됩니다.
