Q110. What does God forbid in the eighth commandment.

Not only such theft and robbery as are punished by the magistrate, but God views as theft also all wicked tricks and devices whereby we seek to draw to ourselves our neighbor's goods, whether by force or with show of right, such as unjust weights, ells, measures, wares, coins, usury, or any means forbidden of God; so, moreover, all covetousness, and all useless waste of His gifts.

문 110. 하나님께서는 제8계명에서 무엇을 금하십니까?

위정자가 벌하는 절도와 강도만 금하시는 것이 아닙니다. 하나님께서는 폭력으로든 정당한 일처럼 꾸며서든 이웃의 재산을 자기 것으로 만들려는 모든 악한 속임수와 계략도 도둑질로 여기십니다. 불공정한 저울과 자와 되, 상품과 화폐와 고리대금이나 하나님께서 금하신 어떤 수단도 여기에 속합니다. 또한 모든 탐욕과 하나님의 선물을 쓸데없이 낭비하는 일도 금하십니다.

10 도적이나 탐람하는 자나 술 취하는 자나 후욕하는 자나 토색하는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못하리라

데살로니가전서 4:6

6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

6 이 일에 분수를 넘어서 형제를 해하지 말라 이는 우리가 너희에게 미리 말하고 증거한 것과 같이 이 모든 일에 주께서 신원하여 주심이니라

디모데전서 6:10

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

10 돈을 사랑함이 일만 악의 뿌리가 되나니 이것을 사모하는 자들이 미혹을 받아 믿음에서 떠나 많은 근심으로써 자기를 찔렀도다

1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,

5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

5 너희가 이르기를 월삭이 언제나 지나서 우리로 곡식을 팔게 하며 안식일이 언제나 지나서 우리로 밀을 내게 할꼬 에바를 작게 하여 세겔을 크게 하며 거짓 저울로 속이며

6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?

6 은으로 가난한 자를 사며 신 한 켤레로 궁핍한 자를 사며 잿밀을 팔자 하는도다

7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.

7 여호와께서 야곱의 영광을 가리켜 맹세하시되 내가 저희의 모든 소위를 영영 잊지 아니하리라 하셨나니

시편 15:5

5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

5 변리로 대금치 아니하며 뇌물을 받고 무죄한 자를 해치 아니하는 자니 이런 일을 행하는 자는 영영히 요동치 아니하리이다

누가복음 12:15

15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

15 저희에게 이르시되 삼가 모든 탐심을 물리치라 사람의 생명이 그 소유의 넉넉한데 있지 아니하니라 하시고

잠언 23:20, 21

20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:

20 술을 즐겨하는 자와 고기를 탐하는 자로 더불어 사귀지 말라

21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

21 술 취하고 탐식하는 자는 가난하여질 것이요 잠 자기를 즐겨하는 자는 해어진 옷을 입을 것임이니라

Q111. But what does God require of thee in this commandment?

That I further my neighbor's good where I can and may, deal with him as I would have others deal with me, and labor faithfully that I may be able to help the poor in their need.

문 111. 그렇다면 하나님께서는 이 계명에서 당신에게 무엇을 요구하십니까?

제가 할 수 있고 해도 되는 일에서 이웃의 유익을 증진하고, 다른 사람이 저를 대하기 바라는 대로 이웃을 대하며, 가난한 사람들이 곤궁할 때 도울 수 있도록 성실히 일하기를 요구하십니다.
