10장 효력 있는 부르심

Of Effectual Calling

1. Those whom God hath predestinated unto life, He is pleased in His appointed, and accepted time, effectually to call,¹ by His Word and Spirit, out of that state of sin and death in which they are by nature, to grace and salvation by Jesus Christ;² enlightening their minds spiritually and savingly to understand the things of God;³ taking away their heart of stone, and giving to them a heart of flesh;⁴ renewing their wills, and by His almighty power determining them to that which is good, and effectually drawing them to Jesus Christ;⁵ yet so as they come most freely, being made willing by His grace.⁶

1. 하나님은 생명에 이르도록 예정하신 사람들을 정하시고 기뻐하시는 때에 효력 있게 부르시기를 기뻐하신다.¹ 그분은 말씀과 성령으로 그들이 본성상 처해 있는 죄와 죽음의 상태에서 벗어나 예수 그리스도로 말미암는 은혜와 구원에 이르게 하신다.² 그들의 마음을 영적으로, 구원에 이르는 방식으로 밝히셔서 하나님의 일들을 깨닫게 하시며,³ 돌 같은 마음을 제거하고 살처럼 부드러운 마음을 주시며,⁴ 그들의 의지를 새롭게 하시고 전능하신 능력으로 선을 향하게 하시며 예수 그리스도께 효력 있게 이끄신다.⁵ 그러나 그들은 은혜로 자원하는 마음을 얻어 지극히 자유롭게 나아온다.⁶

로마서 11:7

7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded

에베소서 1:10-11

10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

데살로니가후서 2:13-14

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

13 주의 사랑하시는 형제들아 우리가 항상 너희를 위하여 마땅히 하나님께 감사할 것은 하나님이 처음부터 너희를 택하사 성령의 거룩하게 하심과 진리를 믿음으로 구원을 얻게 하심이니

14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

에베소서 2:1-6

1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins:

1 너희의 허물과 죄로 죽었던 너희를 살리셨도다

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

2 그 때에 너희가 그 가운데서 행하여 이 세상 풍속을 좇고 공중의 권세 잡은 자를 따랐으니 곧 지금 불순종의 아들들 가운데서 역사하는 영이라

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

3 전에는 우리도 다 그 가운데서 우리 육체의 욕심을 따라 지내며 육체와 마음의 원하는 것을 하여 다른이들과 같이 본질상 진노의 자녀이었더니

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

4 긍휼에 풍성하신 하나님이 우리를 사랑하신 그 큰 사랑을 인하여

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

5 허물로 죽은 우리를 그리스도와 함께 살리셨고 (너희가 은혜로 구원을 얻은 것이라)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

6 또 함께 일으키사 그리스도 예수 안에서 함께 하늘에 앉히시니

사도행전 26:18

18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

18 그 눈을 뜨게 하여 어두움에서 빛으로, 사단의 권세에서 하나님께로 돌아가게 하고 죄 사함과 나를 믿어 거룩케 된 무리 가운데서 기업을 얻게 하리라 하더이다

에베소서 1:17-18

17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

17 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님, 영광의 아버지께서 지혜와 계시의 정신을 너희에게 주사 하나님을 알게 하시고

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

18 너희 마음눈을 밝히사 그의 부르심의 소망이 무엇이며 성도 안에서 그 기업의 영광의 풍성이 무엇이며

에스겔 36:26

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

26 또 새 영을 너희 속에 두고 새 마음을 너희에게 주되 너희 육신에서 굳은 마음을 제하고 부드러운 마음을 줄 것이며

신명기 30:6

6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

6 네 하나님 여호와께서 네 마음과 네 자손의 마음에 할례를 베푸사 너로 마음을 다하며 성품을 다하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하게 하사 너로 생명을 얻게 하실 것이며

에스겔 36:27

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

27 또 내 신을 너희 속에 두어 너희로 내 율례를 행하게 하리니 너희가 내 규례를 지켜 행할찌라

에베소서 1:19

19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

19 그의 힘의 강력으로 역사하심을 따라 믿는 우리에게 베푸신 능력의 지극히 크심이 어떤 것을 너희로 알게 하시기를 구하노라

시편 110:3

3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

3 주의 권능의 날에 주의 백성이 거룩한 옷을 입고 즐거이 헌신하니 새벽 이슬 같은 주의 청년들이 주께 나오는도다

아가서 1:4

4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

4 왕이 나를 침궁으로 이끌어 들이시니 너는 나를 인도하라 우리가 너를 따라 달려가리라 우리가 너를 인하여 기뻐하며 즐거워하니 네 사랑이 포도주에서 지남이라 처녀들이 너를 사랑함이 마땅하니라

2. This effectual call is of God’s free and special grace alone, not from anything at all foreseen in man, nor from any power or agency in the creature,⁷ being wholly passive therein, being dead in sins and trespasses, until being quickened and renewed by the Holy Spirit;⁸ he is thereby enabled to answer this call, and to embrace the grace offered and conveyed in it, and that by no less power than that which raised up Christ from the dead.⁹

2. 이 효력 있는 부르심은 오직 하나님의 값없고 특별한 은혜에서 나오며, 사람 안에 있는 어떤 것을 미리 보신 데서나 피조물의 어떤 능력이나 활동에서 나오지 않는다.⁷ 사람은 죄와 허물로 죽어 있으므로 성령으로 살아나고 새롭게 될 때까지 이 일에서 전적으로 수동적이다.⁸ 성령으로 새롭게 된 후에야 그는 이 부르심에 응답하고, 그 안에서 제시되고 전달되는 은혜를 받아들일 수 있게 된다. 이는 그리스도를 죽은 자들 가운데서 일으키신 능력에 조금도 못하지 않은 능력으로 이루어진다.⁹

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

고린도전서 2:14

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

14 육에 속한 사람은 하나님의 성령의 일을 받지 아니하나니 저희에게는 미련하게 보임이요 또 깨닫지도 못하나니 이런 일은 영적으로라야 분변함이니라

에베소서 2:5

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

요한복음 5:25

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

25 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 죽은 자들이 하나님의 아들의 음성을 들을 때가 오나니 곧 이 때라 듣는 자는 살아나리라

에베소서 1:19-20

19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

19 그의 힘의 강력으로 역사하심을 따라 믿는 우리에게 베푸신 능력의 지극히 크심이 어떤 것을 너희로 알게 하시기를 구하노라

20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

20 그 능력이 그리스도 안에서 역사하사 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리시고 하늘에서 자기의 오른편에 앉히사

3. Elect infants dying in infancy are regenerated and saved by Christ through the Spirit;¹⁰ who works when, and where, and how He pleases;¹¹ so also are all elect persons, who are incapable of being outwardly called by the ministry of the Word.

3. 유아기에 죽는 택함 받은 유아들은 성령을 통하여 그리스도로 말미암아 거듭나고 구원받는다.¹⁰ 성령은 자신이 기뻐하시는 때와 곳과 방식으로 역사하신다.¹¹ 말씀의 사역을 통하여 외적으로 부르심 받을 수 없는 모든 택함 받은 사람도 이와 같다.

4. Others not elected, although they may be called by the ministry of the Word, and may have some common operations of the Spirit,¹² yet not being effectually drawn by the Father, they neither will nor can truly come to Christ, and therefore cannot be saved:¹³ much less can men that do not receive the Christian religion be saved; be they never so diligent to frame their lives according to the light of nature and the law of that religion they do profess.¹⁴

4. 택함 받지 않은 다른 사람들은 말씀의 사역을 통해 부르심을 받고 성령의 일반적인 역사도 어느 정도 경험할 수 있다.¹² 그러나 성부께서 효력 있게 이끌지 않으시므로 그들은 참으로 그리스도께 나아가려 하지도, 나아갈 수도 없으며, 따라서 구원받을 수 없다.¹³ 하물며 기독교 신앙을 받아들이지 않는 사람들은, 자연의 빛과 자신들이 고백하는 종교의 법에 따라 아무리 부지런히 살려고 힘써도 구원받을 수 없다.¹⁴

요한일서 2:24-25

24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

24 너희는 처음부터 들은 것을 너희 안에 거하게 하라 처음부터 들은 것이 너희 안에 거하면 너희가 아들의 안과 아버지의 안에 거하리라

25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
