13장 성화

Of Sanctification

1. They who are united to Christ, effectually called, and regenerated, having a new heart and a new spirit created in them through the virtue of Christ’s death and resurrection, are also farther sanctified, really and personally,¹ through the same virtue, by his Word and Spirit dwelling in them;² the dominion of the whole body of sin is destroyed,³ and the several lusts of it are more and more weakened and mortified,⁴ and they more and more quickened and strengthened in all saving graces,⁵ to the practice of all true holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.⁶

1. 그리스도와 연합하고 효력 있게 부르심을 받고 거듭나서, 그리스도의 죽음과 부활의 능력으로 새 마음과 새 영이 창조된 사람들은 또한 더욱 실제적이고 인격적으로 거룩하게 된다.¹ 이는 동일한 능력으로, 그들 안에 거하시는 그분의 말씀과 성령을 통해 이루어진다.² 죄의 몸 전체가 행사하던 지배력이 무너지고,³ 그 여러 정욕이 점점 약해지고 죽임을 당하며,⁴ 그들은 구원에 속한 모든 은혜 안에서 점점 살아나고 강해진다.⁵ 그리하여 모든 참된 거룩함을 실천하게 되며, 이 거룩함이 없이는 아무도 주를 보지 못한다.⁶

32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

32 지금 내가 너희를 주와 및 그 은혜의 말씀께 부탁하노니 그 말씀이 너희를 능히 든든히 세우사 거룩케 하심을 입은 모든 자 가운데 기업이 있게 하시리라

로마서 6:5-6

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

5 만일 우리가 그의 죽으심을 본받아 연합한 자가 되었으면 또한 그의 부활을 본받아 연합한 자가 되리라

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

19 그 넓이와 길이와 높이와 깊이가 어떠함을 깨달아 하나님의 모든 충만하신 것으로 너희에게 충만하게 하시기를 구하노라

데살로니가전서 5:21-23

21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

21 범사에 헤아려 좋은 것을 취하고

22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

22 악은 모든 모양이라도 버리라

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

23 평강의 하나님이 친히 너희로 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 또 너희 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주 예수 그리스도 강림하실 때에 흠없게 보전되기를 원하노라

로마서 6:14

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

갈라디아서 5:24

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

골로새서 1:11

11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

11 그 영광의 힘을 좇아 모든 능력으로 능하게 하시며 기쁨으로 모든 견딤과 오래 참음에 이르게 하시고

고린도후서 7:1

1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

1 그런즉 사랑하는 자들아 이 약속을 가진 우리가 하나님을 두려워하는 가운데서 거룩함을 온전히 이루어 육과 영의 온갖 더러운 것에서 자신을 깨끗케 하자

히브리서 12:14

14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

14 모든 사람으로 더불어 화평함과 거룩함을 좇으라 이것이 없이는 아무도 주를 보지 못하리라

2. This sanctification is throughout the whole man,⁷ yet imperfect in this life; there abides still some remnants of corruption in every part,⁸ wherefrom arises a continual and irreconcilable war; the flesh lusting against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.⁹

2. 이 성화는 사람 전체에 걸쳐 이루어진다.⁷ 그러나 현세에서는 불완전하여 모든 부분에 부패의 잔재가 여전히 남아 있다.⁸ 이 때문에 육체는 성령을 거슬러 욕망하고 성령은 육체를 거슬러 역사하시는, 끊임없고 화해할 수 없는 싸움이 일어난다.⁹

3. In which war, although the remaining corruption for a time may much prevail,¹⁰ yet, through the continual supply of strength from the sanctifying Spirit of Christ, the regenerate part does overcome;¹¹ and so the saints grow in grace, perfecting holiness in the fear of God, pressing after an heavenly life, in evangelical obedience to all the commands which Christ as Head and King, in his Word has prescribed to them.¹²

3. 이 싸움에서 남아 있는 부패가 한동안 크게 우세할 수 있다.¹⁰ 그러나 거룩하게 하시는 그리스도의 영께서 계속 힘을 공급하시므로, 거듭난 부분이 이긴다.¹¹ 이처럼 성도들은 은혜 안에서 자라며, 하나님을 경외함으로 거룩함을 온전히 이루어 간다. 또한 머리이며 왕이신 그리스도께서 말씀 안에서 명하신 모든 계명에 복음적으로 순종하면서 하늘에 속한 삶을 힘써 추구한다.¹²

23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

23 내 지체 속에서 한 다른 법이 내 마음의 법과 싸워 내 지체 속에 있는 죄의 법 아래로 나를 사로잡아 오는 것을 보는도다

고린도후서 3:18

18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

18 우리가 다 수건을 벗은 얼굴로 거울을 보는것 같이 주의 영광을 보매 저와 같은 형상으로 화하여 영광으로 영광에 이르니 곧 주의 영으로 말미암음이니라
