29장 침례

Of Baptism

1. Baptism is an ordinance of the New Testament, ordained by Jesus Christ, to be unto the party baptized, a sign of his fellowship with him, in his death and resurrection; of his being engrafted into him;¹ of remission of sins;² and of giving up into God, through Jesus Christ, to live and walk in newness of life.³

1. 침례는 예수 그리스도께서 제정하신 신약의 규례이다. 이는 침례받는 사람에게 그리스도의 죽음과 부활에 함께 참여함과 그분께 접붙임 받음의 표가 되고,¹ 죄 사함의 표가 되며,² 예수 그리스도를 통하여 새 생명 가운데 살고 행하도록 자신을 하나님께 드림의 표가 되게 하려는 것이다.³

로마서 6:3-5

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

3 무릇 그리스도 예수와 합하여 세례를 받은 우리는 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례 받은 줄을 알지 못하느뇨

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

4 그러므로 우리가 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받음으로 그와 함께 장사되었나니 이는 아버지의 영광으로 말미암아 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리심과 같이 우리로 또한 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이니라

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

5 만일 우리가 그의 죽으심을 본받아 연합한 자가 되었으면 또한 그의 부활을 본받아 연합한 자가 되리라

골로새서 2:12

12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

12 너희가 세례로 그리스도와 함께 장사한바 되고 또 죽은 자들 가운데서 그를 일으키신 하나님의 역사를 믿음으로 말미암아 그 안에서 함께 일으키심을 받았느니라

갈라디아서 3:27

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

27 누구든지 그리스도와 합하여 세례를 받은 자는 그리스도로 옷입었느니라

마가복음 1:4

4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

4 세례 요한이 이르러 광야에서 죄 사함을 받게 하는 회개의 세례를 전파하니

사도행전 22:16

16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

16 이제는 왜 주저하느뇨 일어나 주의 이름을 불러 세례를 받고 너의 죄를 씻으라 하더라

로마서 6:4

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

2. Those who do actually profess repentance towards God, faith in, and obedience to, our Lord Jesus Christ, are the only proper subjects of this ordinance.⁴

2. 하나님을 향한 회개와 우리 주 예수 그리스도에 대한 믿음과 순종을 실제로 고백하는 사람들만이 이 규례의 합당한 대상이다.⁴

3. The outward element to be used in this ordinance is water, wherein the party is to be baptized, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.⁵

3. 이 규례에서 사용할 외적 요소는 물이다. 침례받는 사람은 물속에서 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 침례를 받아야 한다.⁵

4. Immersion, or dipping of the person in water, is necessary to the due administration of this ordinance.⁶

4. 이 규례를 올바르게 시행하려면 사람을 물속에 잠그는 것, 곧 침수가 필요하다.⁶
