4장 창조

Of Creation

1. In the beginning it pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,¹ for the manifestation of the glory of His eternal power,² wisdom, and goodness, to create or make the world, and all things therein, whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days, and all very good.³

1. 태초에 성부와 성자와 성령 하나님은¹ 자신의 영원한 능력의 영광과² 지혜와 선하심을 나타내기 위하여, 엿새 동안 세상과 그 안의 보이는 것들과 보이지 않는 모든 것을 창조하시되, 모든 것을 심히 좋게 만드시기를 기뻐하셨다.³

2. After God had made all other creatures, He created man, male and female,⁴ with reasonable and immortal souls,⁵ rendering them fit unto that life to God for which they were created; being made after the image of God, in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness;⁶ having the law of God written in their hearts,⁷ and power to fulfill it, and yet under a possibility of transgressing, being left to the liberty of their own will, which was subject to change.⁸

2. 하나님은 다른 모든 피조물을 만드신 후 사람을 남자와 여자로 창조하시고,⁴ 이성적이며 불멸하는 영혼을 주셨다.⁵ 이로써 그들이 창조된 목적인 하나님을 향한 삶에 합당하게 하셨으며, 하나님의 형상을 따라 지식과 의와 참된 거룩함으로 만드셨다.⁶ 그들의 마음에는 하나님의 법이 기록되어 있었고,⁷ 그 법을 이룰 능력이 있었다. 그러나 그들은 변할 수 있는 자기 의지의 자유에 맡겨졌으므로 범죄할 가능성도 있었다.⁸

창세기 1:27

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

창세기 1:26

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

26 하나님이 가라사대 우리의 형상을 따라 우리의 모양대로 우리가 사람을 만들고 그로 바다의 고기와 공중의 새와 육축과 온 땅과 땅에 기는 모든 것을 다스리게 하자 하시고

로마서 2:14-15

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

14 (율법 없는 이방인이 본성으로 율법의 일을 행할 때는 이 사람은 율법이 없어도 자기가 자기에게 율법이 되나니

15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

15 이런 이들은 그 양심이 증거가 되어 그 생각들이 서로 혹은 송사하며 혹은 변명하여 그 마음에 새긴 율법의 행위를 나타내느니라)

창세기 3:6

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

6 여자가 그 나무를 본즉 먹음직도 하고 보암직도 하고 지혜롭게 할만큼 탐스럽기도 한 나무인지라 여자가 그 실과를 따먹고 자기와 함께한 남편에게도 주매 그도 먹은지라

3. Besides the law written in their hearts, they received a command not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil,⁹ which while they kept, they were happy in their communion with God, and had dominion over the creatures.¹⁰

3. 마음에 기록된 법 외에도 그들은 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매를 먹지 말라는 명령을 받았다.⁹ 그 명령을 지키는 동안 그들은 하나님과 교제하며 행복을 누렸고 피조물들을 다스렸다.¹⁰
