7장 하나님의 언약

Of God's Covenant

1. The distance between God and the creature is so great, that although reasonable creatures do owe obedience to Him as their creator, yet they could never have attained the reward of life but by some voluntary condescension on God’s part, which He hath been pleased to express by way of covenant.¹

1. 하나님과 피조물 사이의 간격은 매우 크다. 그러므로 이성적 피조물은 창조주이신 하나님께 순종할 의무가 있지만, 하나님 편에서 자발적으로 자신을 낮추어 주시지 않으면 생명의 상급을 얻을 수 없다. 하나님은 이러한 낮추심을 언약의 방식으로 나타내시기를 기뻐하셨다.¹

2. Moreover, man having brought himself under the curse of the law by his fall, it pleased the Lord to make a covenant of grace,² wherein He freely offers unto sinners life and salvation by Jesus Christ, requiring of them faith in Him, that they may be saved;³ and promising to give unto all those that are ordained unto eternal life, His Holy Spirit, to make them willing and able to believe.⁴

2. 또한 사람이 타락하여 스스로 율법의 저주 아래 놓였으므로, 주께서는 은혜 언약을 맺으시기를 기뻐하셨다.² 이 언약에서 주께서는 예수 그리스도로 말미암는 생명과 구원을 죄인들에게 값없이 제시하시고, 구원받도록 그리스도를 믿을 것을 요구하신다.³ 또한 영생에 이르도록 정해진 모든 사람에게 성령을 주셔서, 그들이 자원하여 믿고 믿을 수 있게 하실 것을 약속하신다.⁴

창세기 2:17

갈라디아서 3:10

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

10 무릇 율법 행위에 속한 자들은 저주 아래 있나니 기록된바 누구든지 율법 책에 기록된대로 온갖 일을 항상 행하지 아니하는 자는 저주 아래 있는 자라 하였음이라

로마서 3:20-21

20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

20 그러므로 율법의 행위로 그의 앞에 의롭다 하심을 얻을 육체가 없나니 율법으로는 죄를 깨달음이니라

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

21 이제는 율법 외에 하나님의 한 의가 나타났으니 율법과 선지자들에게 증거를 받은 것이라

로마서 8:3

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

3 율법이 육신으로 말미암아 연약하여 할 수 없는 그것을 하나님은 하시나니 곧 죄를 인하여 자기 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내어 육신에 죄를 정하사

마가복음 16:15-16

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

15 또 가라사대 너희는 온 천하에 다니며 만민에게 복음을 전파하라

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

16 믿고 세례를 받는 사람은 구원을 얻을 것이요 믿지 않는 사람은 정죄를 받으리라

요한복음 3:16

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

16 하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는 저를 믿는 자마다 멸망치 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이니라

에스겔 36:26-27

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

26 또 새 영을 너희 속에 두고 새 마음을 너희에게 주되 너희 육신에서 굳은 마음을 제하고 부드러운 마음을 줄 것이며

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

27 또 내 신을 너희 속에 두어 너희로 내 율례를 행하게 하리니 너희가 내 규례를 지켜 행할찌라

요한복음 6:44-45

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

44 나를 보내신 아버지께서 이끌지 아니하면 아무라도 내게 올 수 없으니 오는 그를 내가 마지막 날에 다시 살리리라

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

45 선지자의 글에 저희가 다 하나님의 가르치심을 받으리라 기록되었은즉 아버지께 듣고 배운 사람마다 내게로 오느니라

시편 110:3

3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

3 주의 권능의 날에 주의 백성이 거룩한 옷을 입고 즐거이 헌신하니 새벽 이슬 같은 주의 청년들이 주께 나오는도다

3. This covenant is revealed in the gospel; first of all to Adam in the promise of salvation by the seed of the woman,⁵ and afterwards by farther steps, until the full discovery thereof was completed in the New Testament;⁶ and it is founded in that eternal covenant transaction that was between the Father and the Son about the redemption of the elect;⁷ and it is alone by the grace of this covenant that all the posterity of fallen Adam that ever were saved did obtain life and blessed immortality, man being now utterly incapable of acceptance with God upon those terms on which Adam stood in his state of innocency.⁸

3. 이 언약은 복음 안에서 계시되었다. 먼저 여자의 후손을 통한 구원의 약속으로 아담에게 계시되었고,⁵ 그 후에는 단계적으로 더욱 밝혀져, 신약에서 온전한 계시가 완결되었다.⁶ 이 언약은 택하신 자들의 구속에 관하여 성부와 성자 사이에 이루어진 영원한 언약적 합의에 기초한다.⁷ 타락한 아담의 후손 가운데 구원받은 모든 사람은 오직 이 언약의 은혜로 생명과 복된 불멸을 얻었다. 이제 사람은 아담이 무죄한 상태에서 서 있던 조건으로는 하나님께 받아들여질 수가 전혀 없기 때문이다.⁸

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

히브리서 11:6, 13

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

6 믿음이 없이는 기쁘시게 못하나니 하나님께 나아가는 자는 반드시 그가 계신 것과 또한 그가 자기를 찾는 자들에게 상 주시는 이심을 믿어야 할찌니라

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

13 이 사람들은 다 믿음을 따라 죽었으며 약속을 받지 못하였으되 그것들을 멀리서 보고 환영하며 또 땅에서는 외국인과 나그네로라 증거하였으니

로마서 4:1-2

1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

1 그런즉 육신으로 우리 조상된 아브라함이 무엇을 얻었다 하리요

2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

2 만일 아브라함이 행위로써 의롭다 하심을 얻었으면 자랑할 것이 있으려니와 하나님 앞에서는 없느니라

사도행전 4:12

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

12 다른이로서는 구원을 얻을 수 없나니 천하 인간에 구원을 얻을만한 다른 이름을 우리에게 주신 일이 없음이니라 하였더라

요한복음 8:56

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

56 너희 조상 아브라함은 나의 때 볼 것을 즐거워하다가 보고 기뻐하였느니라
