문답 70 생명에 이르는 회개는 무엇입니까?

What is repentance to life?

Repentance to life is a saving grace¹ , whereby a sinner, out of a true sense of his sins² , and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ³ , does with grief and hatred of his sin turn from it to God⁴ , with full purpose to strive after new obedience.⁵

생명에 이르는 회개는 구원에 이르는 은혜입니다.¹ 이 회개로 죄인은 자신의 죄를 참되게 깨닫고,² 그리스도 안에 있는 하나님의 긍휼을 깨달아,³ 자신의 죄를 슬퍼하고 미워하며 죄에서 돌이켜 하나님께로 돌아갑니다.⁴ 또한 새로운 순종을 힘써 추구하겠다는 확고한 결심을 합니다.⁵

사도행전 11:18

18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

18 저희가 이 말을 듣고 잠잠하여 하나님께 영광을 돌려 가로되 그러면 하나님께서 이방인에게도 생명 얻는 회개를 주셨도다 하니라

사도행전 2:37

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

37 저희가 이 말을 듣고 마음에 찔려 베드로와 다른 사도들에게 물어 가로되 형제들아 우리가 어찌할꼬 하거늘

요엘 2:13

13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

13 너희는 옷을 찢지 말고 마음을 찢고 너희 하나님 여호와께로 돌아올찌어다 그는 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 노하기를 더디하시며 인애가 크시사 뜻을 돌이켜 재앙을 내리지 아니하시나니

예레미야 31:18-19

18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.

18 에브라임이 스스로 탄식함을 내가 정녕히 들었노니 이르기를 주께서 나를 징벌하시매 멍에에 익숙지 못한 송아지 같은 내가 징벌을 받았나이다 주는 나의 하나님 여호와시니 나를 이끌어 돌이키소서 그리하시면 내가 돌아오겠나이다

19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

19 내가 돌이킴을 받은 후에 뉘우쳤고 내가 교훈을 받은 후에 내 볼기를 쳤사오니 이는 어렸을 때의 치욕을 진고로 부끄럽고 욕됨이니이다 하도다

59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
