1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)

1 이 일은 아하수에로왕 때에 된 것이니 아하수에로는 인도로 구스까지 일백 이십 칠도를 치리하는 왕이라

22 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

22 셈의 아들은 엘람과 앗수르와 아르박삿과 룻과 아람이요

32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

32 그 우상의 머리는 정금이요 가슴과 팔들은 은이요 배와 넓적다리는 놋이요

39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

39 왕의 후에 왕만 못한 다른 나라가 일어날 것이요 세째로 또 놋 같은 나라가 일어나서 온 세계를 다스릴 것이며

5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

5 다른 짐승 곧 둘째는 곰과 같은데 그것이 몸 한편을 들었고 그 입의 잇사이에는 세 갈빗대가 물렸는데 그에게 말하는 자가 있어 이르기를 일어나서 많은 고기를 먹으라 하였으며

3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

3 내가 눈을 들어 본즉 강 가에 두 뿔 가진 수양이 섰는데 그 두 뿔이 다 길어도 한 뿔은 다른 뿔보다도 길었고 그 긴 것은 나중에 난 것이더라

20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.

20 네가 본바 두 뿔 가진 수양은 곧 메대와 바사 왕들이요

2 That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace,

2 당시에 아하수에로왕이 수산 궁에서 즉위하고

15 And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

15 모르드개가 푸르고 흰 조복을 입고 큰 금면류관을 쓰고 자색 가는 베 겉옷을 입고 왕의 앞에서 나오니 수산성이 즐거이 부르며 기뻐하고

2 And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

2 메대도 악메다 궁에서 한 두루마리를 얻으니 거기 기록하였으되

1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)

1 이 일은 아하수에로왕 때에 된 것이니 아하수에로는 인도로 구스까지 일백 이십 칠도를 치리하는 왕이라

1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

1 다리오가 자기의 심원대로 방백 일백 이십명을 세워 전국을 통치하게 하고

12 Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

12 이에 그들이 나아가서 왕의 금령에 대하여 왕께 아뢰되 왕이여 왕이 이미 금령에 어인을 찍어서 이제부터 삼십일 동안에 누구든지 왕 외에 어느 신에게나 사람에게 구하면 사자 굴에 던져 넣기로 하지 아니하였나이까 왕이 대답하여 가로되 이 일이 적실하니 메대와 바사의 변개치 아니하는 규례대로 된 것이니라

15 Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.

15 그 무리들이 또 모여 왕에게로 나아와서 왕께 말씀하되 왕이여 메대와 바사의 규례를 아시거니와 왕의 세우신 금령과 법도는 변개하지 못할 것이니이다

8 And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.

8 하만이 아하수에로왕에게 아뢰되 한 민족이 왕의 나라 각 도 백성 중에 흩어져 거하는데 그 법률이 만민보다 달라서 왕의 법률을 지키지 아니하오니 용납하는 것이 왕에게 무익하니이다

11 And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.

11 이르되 그 은을 네게 주고 그 백성도 그리하노니 너는 소견에 좋을대로 행하라 하더라

9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.

9 왕을 모신 내시 중에 하르보나가 왕에게 아뢰되 왕을 위하여 충성된 말로 고발한 모르드개를 달고자 하여 하만이 고가 오십 규빗 되는 나무를 준비하였는데 이제 그 나무가 하만의 집에 섰나이다 왕이 가로되 하만을 그 나무에 달라 하매

1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

1 바사 왕 고레스 원년에 여호와께서 예레미야의 입으로 하신 말씀을 응하게 하시려고 바사 왕 고레스의 마음을 감동시키시매 저가 온 나라에 공포도 하고 조서도 내려 가로되

6 And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

6 또 아하수에로가 즉위할 때에 저희가 글을 올려 유다와 예루살렘 거민을 고소하니라

7 And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.

7 아닥사스다 때에 비슬람과 미드르닷과 다브엘과 그 동료들이 바사 왕 아닥사스다에게 글을 올렸으니 그 글은 아람 문자와 아람 방언으로 써서 진술하였더라

1 Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

1 이에 다리오왕이 조서를 내려 서적 곳간 곧 바벨론에서 보물을 쌓아둔 곳에서 조사하게 하였더니

31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

31 메대 사람 다리오가 나라를 얻었는데 때에 다리오는 육십 이세였더라

2 And now will I show thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

2 이제 내가 참된 것을 네게 보이리라 보라 바사에서 또 세 왕이 일어날 것이요 그 후의 네째는 그들보다 심히 부요할 것이며 그가 그 부요함으로 강하여진 후에는 모든 사람을 격동시켜 헬라국을 칠 것이며

14 And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

14 유다 사람의 장로들이 선지자 학개와 잇도의 손자 스가랴의 권면함으로 인하여 전 건축할 일이 형통한지라 이스라엘 하나님의 명령과 바사 왕 고레스와 다리오와 아닥사스다의 조서를 좇아 전을 건축하며 필역하되

1 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

1 이 일 후 바사 왕 아닥사스다가 위에 있을 때에 에스라라 하는 자가 있으니라 저는 스라야의 아들이요 아사랴의 손자요 힐기야의 증손이요

1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)

1 이 일은 아하수에로왕 때에 된 것이니 아하수에로는 인도로 구스까지 일백 이십 칠도를 치리하는 왕이라

22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

22 즐거우므로 칠일 동안 무교절을 지켰으니 이는 여호와께서 저희로 즐겁게 하시고 또 앗수르 왕의 마음을 저희에게로 돌이켜 이스라엘의 하나님이신 하나님의 전 역사하는 손을 힘있게 하도록 하셨음이었느니라

6 But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:

6 그 때에는 내가 예루살렘에 있지 아니하였었느니라 바벨론 왕 아닥사스다 삼십 이년에 내가 왕에게 나아갔다가 며칠 후에 왕에게 말미를 청하고

12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.

12 모든 왕의 왕 아닥사스다는 하늘의 하나님의 율법에 완전한 학사겸 제사장 에스라에게

2 That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace,

2 당시에 아하수에로왕이 수산 궁에서 즉위하고

14 So the posts that rode upon mules and camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king's commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.

14 왕의 명이 심히 급하매 역졸이 왕의 일에 쓰는 준마를 타고 빨리 나가고 그 조서가 도성 수산에도 반포되니라

4 When he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days, even an hundred and fourscore days.

4 왕이 여러 날 곧 일백 팔십일 동안에 그 영화로운 나라의 부함과 위엄의 혁혁함을 나타내니라

2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

2 땅의 티끌 가운데서 자는 자 중에 많이 깨어 영생을 얻는 자도 있겠고 수욕을 받아서 무궁히 부끄러움을 입을 자도 있을 것이며

3 In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him:

3 위에 있은지 삼년에 그 모든 방백과 신복을 위하여 잔치를 베푸니 바사와 메대의 장수와 각 도의 귀족과 방백들이 다 왕 앞에 있는지라

5 And when these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace;

5 이 날이 다하매 왕이 또 도성 수산 대소 인민을 위하여 왕궁 후원 뜰에서 칠일 동안 잔치를 베풀쌔

7 And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse one from another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king.

7 금잔으로 마시게 하니 잔의 식양이 각기 다르고 왕의 풍부한대로 어주가 한이 없으며

2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

2 왕후 에스더가 뜰에 선 것을 본즉 심히 사랑스러우므로 손에 잡았던 금홀을 그에게 내어미니 에스더가 가까이 가서 금홀 끝을 만진지라

11 All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

11 왕의 신복과 왕의 각 도 백성이 다 알거니와 무론 남녀하고 부름을 받지 아니하고 안뜰에 들어가서 왕에게 나아가면 오직 죽이는 법이요 왕이 그 자에게 금홀을 내어 밀어야 살것이라 이제 내가 부름을 입어 왕에게 나아가지 못한지가 이미 삼십일이라 하라

16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

16 당신은 가서 수산에 있는 유다인을 다 모으고 나를 위하여 금식하되 밤낮 삼일을 먹지도 말고 마시지도 마소서 나도 나의 시녀로 더불어 이렇게 금식한 후에 규례를 어기고 왕에게 나아가리니 죽으면 죽으리이다

13 Then the king said to the wise men, which knew the times, (for so was the king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment:

13 왕이 사례를 아는 박사들에게 묻되 (왕이 규례와 법률을 아는 자에게 묻는 전례가 있는데

1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

1 헤롯왕 때에 예수께서 유대 베들레헴에서 나시매 동방으로부터 박사들이 예루살렘에 이르러 말하되

10 They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.

10 바사와 룻과 붓이 네 군대 가운데서 병정이 되었음이여 네 가운데서 방패와 투구를 달아 네 영광을 나타내었도다

5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:

5 그들과 함께 한바 방패와 투구를 갖춘 바사와 구스와 붓과

8 And the drinking was according to the law; none did compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man's pleasure.

8 마시는 것도 규모가 있어 사람으로 억지로 하지 않게 하니 이는 왕이 모든 궁내 관리에게 명하여 각 사람으로 마음대로 하게 함이더라

12 Now when every maid's turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)

12 처녀마다 차례대로 아하수에로왕에게 나아가기 전에 여자에 대하여 정한 규례대로 열 두달 동안을 행하되 여섯달은 몰약 기름을 쓰고 여섯달은 향품과 여자에게 쓰는 다른 물품을 써서 몸을 정결케 하는 기한을 마치며

13 Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king's house.

13 처녀가 왕에게 나아갈 때에는 그 구하는 것을 다 주어 후궁에서 왕궁으로 가지고 가게 하고

20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

20 그가 마음이 높아지며 뜻이 강퍅하여 교만을 행하므로 그 왕위가 폐한바 되며 그 영광을 빼앗기고

31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

31 메대 사람 다리오가 나라를 얻었는데 때에 다리오는 육십 이세였더라

20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:

20 무릇 칼에서 벗어난 자를 저가 바벨론으로 사로잡아가매 무리가 거기서 갈대아 왕과 그 자손의 노예가 되어 바사국이 주재할 때까지 이르니라

22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

22 바사 왕 고레스 원년에 여호와께서 예레미야의 입으로 하신 말씀을 응하게 하시려고 바사 왕 고레스의 마음을 감동시키시매 저가 온 나라에 공포도 하고 조서도 내려 가로되

23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.

23 바사 왕 고레스는 말하노니 하늘의 신 여호와께서 세상 만국으로 내게 주셨고 나를 명하여 유다 예루살렘에 전을 건축하라 하셨나니 너희 중에 무릇 그 백성 된 자는 다 올라갈찌어다 너희 하나님 여호와께서 함께하시기를 원하노라 하였더라

2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

2 바사 왕 고레스는 말하노니 하늘의 신 여호와께서 세상 만국으로 내게 주셨고 나를 명하사 유다 예루살렘에 전을 건축하라 하셨나니

3 Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

3 이스라엘의 하나님은 참 신이시라 너희 중에 무릇 그 백성 된 자는 다 유다 예루살렘으로 올라가서 거기 있는 여호와의 전을 건축하라 너희 하나님이 함께 하시기를 원하노라

4 And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.

4 무릇 그 남아 있는 백성이 어느 곳에 우거하였든지 그곳 사람들이 마땅히 은과 금과 기타 물건과 짐승으로 도와주고 그 외에도 예루살렘 하나님의 전을 위하여 예물을 즐거이 드릴찌니라 하였더라

4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

4 내가 본즉 그 수양이 서와 북과 남을 향하여 받으나 그것을 당할 짐승이 하나도 없고 그 손에서 능히 구할이가 절대로 없으므로 그것이 임의로 행하고 스스로 강대하더라

1 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.

1 해변 광야에 관한 경고라 적병이 광야에서, 두려운 땅에서 남방 회리바람 같이 몰려 왔도다

2 A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

2 혹독한 묵시가 내게 보였도다 주께서 가라사대 속이는 자는 속이고 약탈하는 자는 약탈하도다 엘람이여 올라가고 메대여 에워싸라 그의 모든 탄식을 내가 그치게 하였노라 하시도다

28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

28 베레스는 왕의 나라가 나뉘어서 메대와 바사 사람에게 준바 되었다 함이니이다

28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

28 고레스에 대하여는 이르기를 그는 나의 목자라 나의 모든 기쁨을 성취하리라 하며 예루살렘에 대하여는 이르기를 중건되리라 하며 성전에 대하여는 이르기를 네 기초가 세움이 되리라 하는 자니라

1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

1 나 여호와는 나의 기름 받은 고레스의 오른손을 잡고 열국으로 그 앞에 항복하게 하며 열왕의 허리를 풀며 성 문을 그 앞에 열어서 닫지 못하게 하리라 내가 고레스에게 이르기를

2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

2 내가 네 앞서 가서 험한 곳을 평탄케 하며 놋문을 쳐서 부수며 쇠빗장을 꺾고

3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

3 네게 흑암 중의 보화와 은밀한 곳에 숨은 재물을 주어서 너로 너를 지명하여 부른 자가 나 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님인줄 알게 하리라

4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

4 내가 나의 종 야곱, 나의 택한 이스라엘을 위하여 너를 지명하여 불렀나니 너는 나를 알지 못하였을찌라도 나는 네게 칭호를 주었노라

2 And now will I show thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

2 이제 내가 참된 것을 네게 보이리라 보라 바사에서 또 세 왕이 일어날 것이요 그 후의 네째는 그들보다 심히 부요할 것이며 그가 그 부요함으로 강하여진 후에는 모든 사람을 격동시켜 헬라국을 칠 것이며

6 And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.

6 그것이 두 뿔 가진 수양 곧 내가 본바 강 가에 섰던 양에게로 나아가되 분노한 힘으로 그것에게로 달려가더니

7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.

7 내가 본즉 그것이 수양에게로 가까이 나아가서는 더욱 성내어 그 수양을 쳐서 그 두 뿔을 꺾으나 수양에게는 그것을 대적할 힘이 없으므로 그것이 수양을 땅에 엎드러뜨리고 짓밟았으나 능히 수양을 그 손에서 벗어나게 할 이가 없었더라

3 And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

3 장차 한 능력 있는 왕이 일어나서 큰 권세로 다스리며 임의로 행하리라
