21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

21 아모리 족속과 가나안 족속과 기르가스 족속과 여부스 족속의 땅이니라 하셨더라

8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

8 내가 내려와서 그들을 애굽인의 손에서 건져내고 그들을 그 땅에서 인도하여 아름답고 광대한 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅 곧 가나안 족속, 헷 족속, 아모리 족속, 브리스 족속, 히위 족속, 여부스 족속의 지방에 이르려 하노라

17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.

17 내가 말하였거니와 내가 너희를 애굽의 고난 중에서 인도하여 내어 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅 곧 가나안 족속, 헷 족속, 아모리 족속, 브리스 족속, 히위 족속, 여부스 족속의 땅으로 올라가게 하리라 하셨다 하면

1 And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

1 요단 서편의 아모리 사람의 모든 왕과 해변의 가나안 사람의 모든 왕이 여호와께서 요단 물을 이스라엘 자손들 앞에서 말리시고 우리를 건네셨음을 듣고 마음이 녹았고 이스라엘 자손들의 연고로 정신을 잃었더라

10 And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth.

10 또 그가 요단 동편에 있는 아모리 사람의 두 왕 곧 헤스본 왕 시혼과 아스다롯에 있는 바산 왕 옥에게 행하신 모든 일을 들었음이니이다

18 And slew famous kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:

18 유명한 왕들을 죽이신이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다

20 And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endureth for ever:

20 바산왕 옥을 죽이신이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다

29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

29 아말렉인은 남방 땅에 거하고 헷인과 여부스인과 아모리인은 산지에 거하고 가나안인은 해변과 요단 가에 거하더이다

7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

7 방향을 돌려 진행하여 아모리 족속의 산지로 가고 그 근지 곳곳으로 가고 아라바와 산지와 평지와 남방과 해변과 가나안 족속의 땅과 레바논과 큰 강 유브라데까지 가라 하셨나니

20 And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.

20 내가 너희에게 이르기를 우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리에게 주신 아모리 족속의 산지에 너희가 이르렀나니

36 And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.

36 아모리 사람의 지계는 아그랍빔 비탈의 바위부터 그 위였더라

26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

26 헤스본은 아모리인의 왕 시혼의 도성이라 시혼이 모압 전왕을 치고 그 모든 땅을 아르논까지 그 손에서 탈취하였었더라

30 We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.

30 우리가 그들을 쏘아서 헤스본을 디본까지 멸하였고 메드바에 가까운 노바까지 황폐케 하였도다 하였더라

17 But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

17 이 땅 거민의 연고로 우리 유아들로 그 견고한 성읍에 거하게 한 후에 우리는 무장하고 이스라엘 자손을 그곳으로 인도하기까지 그들의 앞에 행하고

33 And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, even the cities of the country round about.

33 모세가 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손과 요셉의 아들 므낫세 반 지파에게 아모리인의 왕 시혼의 국토와 바산 왕 옥의 국토를 주되 곧 그 나라와 그 경내 성읍들과 그 성읍들의 사면 땅을 그들에게 주매

9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

9 내가 아모리 사람을 저희 앞에서 멸하였나니 그 키는 백향목 높이와 같고 강하기는 상수리나무 같으나 내가 그 위의 열매와 그 아래의 뿌리를 진멸하지 아니하였느냐

16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

16 네 자손은 사대만에 이 땅으로 돌아 오리니 이는 아모리 족속의 죄악이 아직 관영치 아니함이니라 하시더니

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

15 만일 여호와를 섬기는 것이 너희에게 좋지 않게 보이거든 너희 열조가 강 저편에서 섬기던 신이든지 혹 너희의 거하는 땅 아모리 사람의 신이든지 너희 섬길 자를 오늘날 택하라 오직 나와 내 집은 여호와를 섬기겠노라

7 And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.

7 그들이 돌이켜 엔미스밧 곧 가데스에 이르러 아말렉 족속의 온 땅과 하사손다말에 사는 아모리 족속을 친지라

13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

13 도망한 자가 와서 히브리 사람 아브람에게 고하니 때에 아브람이 아모리 족속 마므레의 상수리 수풀 근처에 거하였더라 마므레는 에스골의 형제요 또 아넬의 형제라 이들은 아브람과 동맹한 자더라

24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

24 오직 소년들의 먹은 것과 나와 동행한 아넬과 에스골과 마므레의 분깃을 제할찌니 그들이 그 분깃을 취할 것이니라

22 Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.

22 내가 네게 네 형제보다 일부분을 더 주었나니 이는 내가 내 칼과 활로 아모리 족속의 손에서 빼앗은 것이니라

16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

16 네 자손은 사대만에 이 땅으로 돌아 오리니 이는 아모리 족속의 죄악이 아직 관영치 아니함이니라 하시더니

17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:

17 곧 헷 족속과 아모리 족속과 가나안 족속과 브리스 족속과 히위 족속과 여부스 족속을 네가 진멸하되 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 명하신대로 하라

18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.

18 이는 그들이 그 신들에게 행하는 모든 가증한 일로 너희에게 가르쳐 본받게 하여 너희로 너희의 하나님 여호와께 범죄케 할까 함이니라

21 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

21 이스라엘이 아모리 왕 시혼에게 사자를 보내어 가로되

22 Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king's high way, until we be past thy borders.

22 우리로 당신의 땅을 통과하게 하소서 우리가 밭에든지 포도원에든지 들어가지 아니하며 우물 물도 공히 마시지 아니하고 우리가 당신의 지경에서 다 나가기까지 왕의 대로로만 통행하리이다 하나

23 And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

23 시혼이 자기 지경으로 이스라엘의 통과함을 용납하지 아니하고 그 백성을 다 모아 이스라엘을 치러 광야로 나와서 야하스에 이르러 이스라엘을 치므로

30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

30 헤스본 왕 시혼이 우리의 통과하기를 허락지 아니하였으니 이는 너의 하나님 여호와께서 그를 네 손에 붙이시려고 그 성품을 완강케 하셨고 그 마음을 강퍅케 하셨음이라 오늘날과 같으니라

24 And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

24 이스라엘이 칼날로 그들을 쳐서 파하고 그 땅을 아르논부터 얍복까지 점령하여 암몬 자손에게까지 미치니 암몬 자손의 경계는 견고하더라

25 And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.

25 이스라엘이 이같이 그 모든 성읍을 취하고 그 아모리인의 모든 성읍 헤스본과 그 모든 촌락에 거하였으니

26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

26 헤스본은 아모리인의 왕 시혼의 도성이라 시혼이 모압 전왕을 치고 그 모든 땅을 아르논까지 그 손에서 탈취하였었더라

27 Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:

27 그러므로 시인이 읊어 가로되 너희는 헤스본으로 올찌어다 시혼의 성을 세워 견고히 할찌어다

28 For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.

28 헤스본에서 불이 나오며 시혼의 성에서 화염이 나와서 모압의 아르를 삼키며 아르논 높은 곳의 주인을 멸하였도다

29 Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.

29 모압아 네가 화를 당하였도다 그모스의 백성아 네가 멸망하였도다 그가 그 아들들로 도망케 하였고 그 딸들로 아모리인의 왕 시혼의 포로가 되게 하였도다

30 We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.

30 우리가 그들을 쏘아서 헤스본을 디본까지 멸하였고 메드바에 가까운 노바까지 황폐케 하였도다 하였더라

31 Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.

31 이스라엘이 아모리인의 땅에 거하였더니

32 And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.

32 모세가 또 보내어 야셀을 정탐케 하고 그 촌락들을 취하고 그곳에 있던 아모리인을 몰아 내었더라

33 And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.

33 돌이켜 바산 길로 올라가매 바산 왕 옥이 그 백성을 다 거느리고 나와서 그들을 맞아 에드레이에서 싸우려 하는지라

34 And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

34 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 그를 두려워 말라 내가 그와 그 백성과 그 땅을 네 손에 붙였나니 너는 헤스본에 거하던 아모리인의 왕 시혼에게 행한것 같이 그에게도 행할찌니라

35 So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.

35 이에 그와 그 아들들과 그 백성을 다 쳐서 한 사람도 남기지 아니하고 그 땅을 점령하였더라

15 And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance according to their families.

15 모세가 르우벤 자손의 지파에게 그 가족을 따라서 주었으니

16 And their coast was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;

16 그 지경은 아르논 골짜기 가에 있는 아로엘에서부터 골짜기 가운데 있는 성읍과 메드바 곁에 있는 온 평지와

17 Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamothbaal, and Bethbaalmeon,

17 헤스본과 그 평지에 있는 모든 성읍 곧 디본과 바못 바알과 벧 바알 므온과

18 And Jahaza, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,

18 야하스와 그데못과 메바앗과

19 And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zarethshahar in the mount of the valley,

19 기랴다임과 십마와 골짜기 가운데 산에 있는 세렛 사할과

20 And Bethpeor, and Ashdothpisgah, and Bethjeshimoth,

20 벧브올과 비스가 산록과 벧여시못과

21 And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, which were dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the country.

21 평지 모든 성읍과 헤스본에 도읍한 아모리 사람 시혼의 온 나라라 모세가 시혼을 그 땅에 거하는 시혼의 방백 곧 미디안의 귀족 에위와 레겜과 술과 훌과 레바와 함께 죽였으며

22 Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them.

22 이스라엘 자손이 그들을 도륙하는 중에 브올의 아들 술사 발람도 칼날로 죽였었더라

23 And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan, and the border thereof. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities and the villages thereof.

23 르우벤 자손의 서편 경계는 요단과 그 강 가라 이상은 르우벤 자손의 기업으로 그 가족대로 받은 성읍과 촌락이니라

24 And Moses gave inheritance unto the tribe of Gad, even unto the children of Gad according to their families.

24 모세가 갓 지파 곧 갓 자손에게도 그 가족을 따라서 주었으니

25 And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah;

25 그 지경은 야셀과 길르앗 모든 성읍과 암몬 자손의 땅 절반 곧 랍바 앞의 아로엘까지와

26 And from Heshbon unto Ramathmizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir;

26 헤스본에서 라맛 미스베와 브도님까지와 마하나임에서 드빌 지경까지와

27 And in the valley, Betharam, and Bethnimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side Jordan eastward.

27 골짜기에 있는 벧 하람과 벧니므라와 숙곳과 사본 곧 헤스본 왕 시혼의 나라의 남은 땅 요단과 그 강 가에서부터 요단 동편 긴네렛 바다의 끝까지라

28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.

28 이는 갓 자손의 기업으로 그 가족대로 받은 성읍과 촌락이니라

29 And Moses gave inheritance unto the half tribe of Manasseh: and this was the possession of the half tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families.

29 모세가 므낫세 반 지파에게 주었으되 므낫세 자손의 반 지파에게 그 가족대로 주었으니

30 And their coast was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, threescore cities:

30 그 지경은 마하나임에서부터 온 바산 곧 바산 왕 옥의 전국과 바산 경내 야일의 모든 고을 육십 성읍과

31 And half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.

31 길르앗 절반과 바산 왕 옥의 나라 성읍 아스다롯과 에드레이라 이는 므낫세의 아들 마길의 자손에게 돌린 것이니 곧 마길 자손의 절반이 그 가족대로 받으니라

1 Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

1 여호수아가 아이를 취하여 진멸하되 여리고와 그 왕에게 행한 것 같이 아이와 그 왕에게 행한 것과 또 기브온 거민이 이스라엘과 화친하여 그 중에 있다함을 예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱이 듣고

2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

2 크게 두려워하였으니 이는 기브온은 왕도와 같은 큰 성임이요 아이보다 크고 그 사람들은 다 강함이라

3 Wherefore Adonizedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

3 예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱이 헤브론 왕 호함과 야르뭇 왕 비람과 라기스 왕 야비아와 에글론 왕 드빌에게 보내어 가로되

4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

4 내게로 올라와 나를 도우라 우리가 기브온을 치자 이는 기브온이 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손으로 더불어 화친하였음이니라 하매

5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

5 이러므로 아모리 다섯 왕 곧 예루살렘 왕과 헤브론 왕과 야르뭇 왕과 라기스 왕과 에글론 왕이 함께 모여 자기들의 모든 군대를 거느리고 올라와서 기브온에 대진하고 싸우니라

11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

11 그들이 이스라엘 앞에서 도망하여 벧호론의 비탈에서 내려갈 때에 여호와께서 하늘에서 큰 덩이 우박을 아세가에 이르기까지 내리우시매 그들이 죽었으니 이스라엘 자손의 칼에 죽은 자보다 우박에 죽은 자가 더욱 많았더라

12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

12 여호와께서 아모리 사람을 이스라엘 자손에게 붙이시던 날에 여호수아가 여호와께 고하되 이스라엘 목전에서 가로되 태양아 너는 기브온 위에 머무르라 달아 너도 아얄론 골짜기에 그리할찌어다 하매

13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

13 태양이 머물고 달이 그치기를 백성이 그 대적에게 원수를 갚도록 하였느니라 야살의 책에 기록되기를 태양이 중천에 머물러서 거의 종일토록 속히 내려가지 아니하였다 하지 아니하였느냐

14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

14 여호와께서 사람의 목소리를 들으신 이 같은 날은 전에도 없었고 후에도 없었나니 이는 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 싸우셨음이니라

24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.

24 그 왕들을 여호수아에게로 끌어내매 여호수아가 이스라엘 모든 사람을 부르고 자기와 함께 갔던 군장들에게 이르되 가까이 와서 이 왕들의 목을 발로 밟으라 가까이 와서 그들의 목을 밟으매

25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

25 여호수아가 군장들에게 이르되 두려워말며 놀라지 말고 마음을 강하게 하고 담대히 하라 너희가 더불어 싸우는 모든 대적에게 여호와께서 다 이와 같이 하시리라 하고

26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.

26 그 후에 여호수아가 그 왕들을 쳐 죽여 다섯 나무에 매어 달고 석양까지 나무에 달린대로 두었다가

27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, which remain until this very day.

27 해 질 때에 여호수아가 명하매 그 시체를 나무에서 내리어 그들의 숨었던 굴에 들여던지고 굴 어귀를 큰 돌로 막았더니 오늘날까지 있더라

2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)

2 기브온 사람은 이스라엘 족속이 아니요 아모리 사람 중에서 남은 자라 이스라엘 족속들이 전에 저희에게 맹세하였거늘 사울이 이스라엘과 유다 족속을 위하여 열심이 있으므로 저희 죽이기를 꾀하였더라 이에 왕이 기브온 사람을 불러 물으니라

3 And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,

3 기브온 거민들이 여호수아의 여리고와 아이에 행한 일을 듣고

4 They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up;

4 꾀를 내어 사신의 모양을 꾸미되 해어진 전대와 해어지고 찢어져서 기운 가죽 포도주 부대를 나귀에 싣고

5 And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and mouldy.

5 그 발에는 낡아 기운 신을 신고 낡은 옷을 입고 다 마르고 곰팡이 난 떡을 예비하고

6 And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.

6 그들이 길갈 진으로 와서 여호수아에게 이르러 그와 이스라엘 사람들에게 이르되 우리는 원방에서 왔나이다 이제 우리와 약조하사이다

7 And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?

7 이스라엘 사람들이 히위 사람에게 이르되 너희가 우리 중에 거하는듯하니 우리가 어떻게 너희와 약조할 수 있으랴

8 And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?

8 그들이 여호수아에게 이르되 우리는 당신의 종이니이다 여호수아가 그들에게 묻되 너희는 누구며 어디서 왔느뇨

9 And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,

9 그들이 여호수아에게 대답하되 종들은 당신의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 인하여 심히 먼 지방에서 왔사오니 이는 우리가 그의 명성과 그가 애굽에서 행하신 모든 일을 들으며

10 And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth.

10 또 그가 요단 동편에 있는 아모리 사람의 두 왕 곧 헤스본 왕 시혼과 아스다롯에 있는 바산 왕 옥에게 행하신 모든 일을 들었음이니이다

11 Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spake to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say unto them, We are your servants: therefore now make ye a league with us.

11 그러므로 우리 장로들과 우리 나라의 모든 거민이 우리에게 일러 가로되 너희는 여행할 양식을 손에 가지고 가서 그들을 맞아서 그들에게 이르기를 우리는 당신들의 종이니 청컨대 이제 우리와 약조하사이다 하라 하였나이다

12 This our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy:

12 우리의 이 떡은 우리가 당신들에게로 오려고 떠나던 날에 우리들의 집에서 오히려 뜨거운 것을 양식으로 취하였더니 보소서 이제 말랐고 곰팡이 났으며

13 And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey.

13 또 우리가 포도주를 담은 이 가죽 부대도 새것이더니 찢어지게 되었으며 우리의 이 옷과 신도 여행이 심히 길므로 인하여 낡아졌나이다 한지라

14 And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.

14 무리가 그들의 양식을 취하고 어떻게 할것을 여호와께 묻지 아니하고

15 And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them.

15 여호수아가 곧 그들과 화친하여 그들을 살리리라는 언약을 맺고 회중 족장들이 그들에게 맹세하였더라

16 And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.

16 그들과 언약을 맺은 후 삼일이 지나서야 그들은 근린에 있어 자기들 중에 거주하는 자라 함을 들으니라

34 And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:

34 아모리 사람이 단 자손을 산지로 쫓아들이고 골짜기에 내려오기를 용납지 아니하고

35 But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.

35 결심하고 헤레스산과 아얄론과 사알빔에 거하였더니 요셉 족속이 강성하매 아모리 사람이 필경은 사역을 하였으며

14 And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even unto Gath; and the coasts thereof did Israel deliver out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

14 블레셋 사람이 이스라엘에게서 빼앗았던 성읍이 에그론부터 가드까지 이스라엘에게 회복되니 이스라엘이 그 사방 지경을 블레셋 사람의 손에서 도로 찾았고 또 이스라엘과 아모리 사람 사이에 평화가 있었더라

20 And all the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which were not of the children of Israel,

20 무릇 이스라엘 자손이 아닌 아모리 사람과 헷 사람과 브리스 사람과 히위 사람과 여부스 사람의 남아 있는자

21 Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.

21 곧 이스라엘 자손이 다 멸하지 못하므로 그 땅에 남아 있는 그 자손들을 솔로몬이 노예로 역군을 삼아 오늘까지 이르렀으되

26 And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

26 저가 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내신 아모리 사람의 모든 행한것 같이 우상에게 복종하여 심히 가증하게 행하였더라

11 Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols:

11 유다 왕 므낫세가 이 가증한 일과 악을 행함이 그 전에 있던 아모리 사람의 행위보다 더욱 심하였고 또 그 우상으로 유다를 범죄케 하였도다

1 Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

1 이 일 후에 방백들이 내게 나아와 가로되 이스라엘 백성과 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 이 땅 백성과 떠나지 아니하고 가나안 사람과 헷 사람과 브리스 사람과 여부스 사람과 암몬 사람과 모압 사람과 애굽 사람과 아모리 사람의 가증한 일을 행하여

2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

2 그들의 딸을 취하여 아내와 며느리를 삼아 거룩한 자손으로 이방 족속과 서로 섞이게 하는데 방백들과 두목들이 이 죄에 더욱 으뜸이 되었다 하는지라

3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.

3 이르기를 주 여호와께서 예루살렘에 대하여 말씀하시되 네 근본과 난 땅은 가나안이요 네 아비는 아모리 사람이요 네 어미는 헷 사람이라
