27장 성례

XXVII. Of the Sacraments

1. Sacraments are holy signs and seals of the covenant of grace,^a immediately instituted by God,^b to represent Christ and his benefits, and to confirm our interest in him:^c as also to put a visible difference between those that belong unto the Church and the rest of the world;^d and solemnly to engage them to the service of God in Christ, according to his Word.^e

1. 성례는 은혜 언약의 거룩한 표와 인이다.^a 하나님께서 직접 제정하셨으며,^b 그리스도와 그분의 유익을 나타내고 우리가 그분께 속해 있음을 확증한다.^c 또한 교회에 속한 사람들과 나머지 세상 사람들 사이에 눈에 보이는 구별을 두며,^d 그들이 말씀에 따라 그리스도 안에서 하나님을 섬기도록 엄숙히 서약하게 한다.^e

창세기 17:7, 10

7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

7 내가 내 언약을 나와 너와 네 대대 후손의 사이에 세워서 영원한 언약을 삼고 너와 네 후손의 하나님이 되리라

10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

10 너희 중 남자는 다 할례를 받으라 이것이 나와 너희와 너희 후손 사이에 지킬 내 언약이니라

로마서 4:11

11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

11 저가 할례의 표를 받은 것은 무할례시에 믿음으로 된 의를 인친 것이니 이는 무할례자로서 믿는 모든 자의 조상이 되어 저희로 의로 여기심을 얻게 하려 하심이라

마태복음 28:19

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

19 그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 족속으로 제자를 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주고

고린도전서 11:23

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

23 내가 너희에게 전한 것은 주께 받은 것이니 곧 주 예수께서 잡히시던 밤에 떡을 가지사

고린도전서 10:16

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

16 우리가 축복하는바 축복의 잔은 그리스도의 피에 참예함이 아니며 우리가 떼는 떡은 그리스도의 몸에 참예함이 아니냐

고린도전서 11:25-26

25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

25 식후에 또한 이와 같이 잔을 가지시고 가라사대 이 잔은 내 피로 세운 새 언약이니 이것을 행하여 마실 때마다 나를 기념하라 하셨으니

26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come.

26 너희가 이 떡을 먹으며 이 잔을 마실 때마다 주의 죽으심을 오실 때까지 전하는 것이니라

갈라디아서 3:27

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

27 누구든지 그리스도와 합하여 세례를 받은 자는 그리스도로 옷입었느니라

창세기 34:14

14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:

14 야곱의 아들들이 그들에게 말하되 우리는 그리하지 못하겠노라 할례 받지 아니한 사람에게 우리 누이를 줄 수 없노니 이는 우리의 수욕이 됨이니라

출애굽기 12:48

48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

48 너희와 함께 거하는 타국인이 여호와의 유월절을 지키고자 하거든 그 모든 남자는 할례를 받은 후에야 가까이하여 지킬찌니 곧 그는 본토인과 같이 될 것이나 할례 받지 못한 자는 먹지 못할 것이니라

로마서 15:8

8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

8 내가 말하노니 그리스도께서 하나님의 진실하심을 위하여 할례의 수종자가 되셨으니 이는 조상들에게 주신 약속들을 견고케 하시고

로마서 6:3-4

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

3 무릇 그리스도 예수와 합하여 세례를 받은 우리는 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례 받은 줄을 알지 못하느뇨

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

4 그러므로 우리가 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받음으로 그와 함께 장사되었나니 이는 아버지의 영광으로 말미암아 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리심과 같이 우리로 또한 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이니라

고린도전서 10:16, 21

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

21 너희가 주의 잔과 귀신의 잔을 겸하여 마시지 못하고 주의 상과 귀신의 상에 겸하여 참예치 못하리라

2. There is in every sacrament a spiritual relation or sacramental union, between the sign and the thing signified; whence it comes to pass that the names and the effects of the one are attributed to the other.^a

2. 모든 성례에는 표와 그 표가 가리키는 실재 사이에 영적 관계, 곧 성례적 연합이 있다. 그 때문에 한쪽의 이름과 효력이 다른 쪽에 돌려지기도 한다.^a

3. The grace which is exhibited in or by the sacraments, rightly used, is not conferred by any power in them; neither doth the efficacy of a sacrament depend upon the piety or intention of him that doth administer it,^a but upon the work of the Spirit,^b and the word of institution, which contains, together with a precept authorizing the use thereof, a promise of benefit to worthy receivers.^c

3. 성례를 바르게 사용할 때 그 안에서 또는 그것을 통하여 제시되는 은혜는 성례 자체의 어떤 능력으로 전달되지 않는다. 성례의 효력은 시행자의 경건이나 의도에 달려 있지도 않다.^a 그것은 성령의 역사와^b 제정의 말씀에 달려 있다. 이 말씀에는 성례의 사용을 명하는 명령과 함께, 합당하게 받는 사람들에게 주실 유익의 약속이 담겨 있다.^c

로마서 2:28-29

28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

28 대저 표면적 유대인이 유대인이 아니요 표면적 육신의 할례가 할례가 아니라

29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

29 오직 이면적 유대인이 유대인이며 할례는 마음에 할찌니 신령에 있고 의문에 있지 아니한 것이라 그 칭찬이 사람에게서가 아니요 다만 하나님에게서니라

베드로전서 3:21

21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

21 물은 예수 그리스도의 부활하심으로 말미암아 이제 너희를 구원하는 표니 곧 세례라 육체의 더러운 것을 제하여 버림이 아니요 오직 선한 양심이 하나님을 향하여 찾아가는 것이라

마태복음 3:11

11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

11 나는 너희로 회개케 하기 위하여 물로 세례를 주거니와 내 뒤에 오시는 이는 나보다 능력이 많으시니 나는 그의 신을 들기도 감당치 못하겠노라 그는 성령과 불로 너희에게 세례를 주실 것이요

고린도전서 12:13

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

13 우리가 유대인이나 헬라인이나 종이나 자유자나 다 한 성령으로 세례를 받아 한 몸이 되었고 또 다 한 성령을 마시게 하셨느니라

마태복음 26:27-28

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

27 또 잔을 가지사 사례하시고 저희에게 주시며 가라사대 너희가 다 이것을 마시라

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

28 이것은 죄 사함을 얻게 하려고 많은 사람을 위하여 흘리는바 나의 피 곧 언약의 피니라

4. There be only two sacraments ordained by Christ our Lord in the Gospel, that is to say, Baptism and the Supper of the Lord: neither of which may be dispensed by any but by a minister of the Word lawfully ordained.^a

4. 우리 주 그리스도께서 복음에서 정하신 성례는 오직 둘, 곧 세례와 성찬이다. 이 둘은 합법적으로 안수받은 말씀의 사역자 외에는 아무도 시행해서는 안 된다.^a

5. The sacraments of the Old Testament, in regard of the spiritual things thereby signified and exhibited, were, for substance, the same with those of the New.^a
