32장 죽음 이후 사람의 상태와 죽은 자의 부활

XXXII. Of the State of Men after Death, and of the Resurrection of the Dead

1. The bodies of men, after death, return to dust, and see corruption;^a but their souls (which neither die nor sleep), having an immortal subsistence,^b immediately return to God who gave them. The souls of the righteous, being then made perfect in holiness, are received into the highest heavens, where they behold the face of God in light and glory, waiting for the full redemption of their bodies:^c and the souls of the wicked are cast into hell, where they remain in torments and utter darkness, reserved to the judgment of the great day.^d Besides these two places for souls separated from their bodies, the Scripture acknowledgeth none.

1. 사람의 몸은 죽은 후 흙으로 돌아가 썩는다.^a 그러나 영혼은 죽거나 잠들지 않으며 불멸하는 존재로 남아,^b 그것을 주신 하나님께 즉시 돌아간다. 의인의 영혼은 그때 거룩함에 있어서 완전하게 되어 가장 높은 하늘에 받아들여지고, 빛과 영광 가운데 하나님의 얼굴을 보며 몸의 완전한 구속을 기다린다.^c 악인의 영혼은 지옥에 던져져 고통과 칠흑 같은 어둠 가운데 머물며 큰 날의 심판 때까지 보존된다.^d 몸과 분리된 영혼이 가는 곳으로 성경은 이 두 곳 외에 다른 곳을 인정하지 않는다.

21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

에베소서 4:10

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

10 내리셨던 그가 곧 모든 하늘 위에 오르신 자니 이는 만물을 충만케 하려 하심이니라

고린도후서 5:1, 6, 8

1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

1 만일 땅에 있는 우리의 장막 집이 무너지면 하나님께서 지으신 집 곧 손으로 지은 것이 아니요 하늘에 있는 영원한 집이 우리에게 있는 줄 아나니

6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

6 이러므로 우리가 항상 담대하여 몸에 거할 때에는 주와 따로 거하는 줄을 아노니

8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

6 또 자기 지위를 지키지 아니하고 자기 처소를 떠난 천사들을 큰 날의 심판까지 영원한 결박으로 흑암에 가두셨으며

7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

7 소돔과 고모라와 그 이웃 도시들도 저희와 같은 모양으로 간음을 행하며 다른 색을 따라 가다가 영원한 불의 형벌을 받음으로 거울이 되었느니라

2. At the last day, such as are found alive shall not die, but be changed;^a and all the dead shall be raised up with the self-same bodies, and none other, although with different qualities, which shall be united again to their souls forever.^b

2. 마지막 날에 살아 있는 사람들은 죽지 않고 변화될 것이다.^a 모든 죽은 사람은 다른 몸이 아니라 바로 자기의 동일한 몸으로 살아날 것이다. 다만 그 몸의 성질은 달라지며, 그들의 영혼과 다시 결합하여 영원히 함께할 것이다.^b

51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

데살로니가전서 4:17

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

17 그 후에 우리 살아 남은 자도 저희와 함께 구름 속으로 끌어 올려 공중에서 주를 영접하게 하시리니 그리하여 우리가 항상 주와 함께 있으리라

욥기 19:26-27

26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

26 나의 이 가죽, 이것이 썩은 후에 내가 육체 밖에서 하나님을 보리라

27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

27 내가 친히 그를 보리니 내 눈으로 그를 보기를 외인처럼 하지 않을 것이라 내 마음이 초급하구나

고린도전서 15:42-44

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

42 죽은 자의 부활도 이와 같으니 썩을 것으로 심고 썩지 아니할 것으로 다시 살며

43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

43 욕된 것으로 심고 영광스러운 것으로 다시 살며 약한 것으로 심고 강한 것으로 다시 살며

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

44 육의 몸으로 심고 신령한 몸으로 다시 사나니 육의 몸이 있은즉 또 신령한 몸이 있느니라

3. The bodies of the unjust shall, by the power of Christ, be raised to dishonor; the bodies of the just, by his Spirit, unto honor, and be made conformable to his own glorious body.^a

3. 불의한 자들의 몸은 그리스도의 능력으로 수치 가운데 부활하고, 의인들의 몸은 그분의 성령으로 영광 가운데 부활하여 그리스도의 영광스러운 몸과 같은 형상을 이루게 될 것이다.^a
