The preface to the ten commandments is contained in these words, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.1 Wherein God manifesteth his sovereignty, as being JEHOVAH, the eternal, immutable, and almighty God;2 having his being in and of himself,3 and giving being to all his words4 and works:5 and that he is a God in covenant, as with Israel of old, so with all his people;6 who, as he brought them out of their bondage in Egypt, so he delivereth us from our spiritual thraldom;7 and that therefore we are bound to take him for our God alone, and to keep all his commandments.8
십계명의 서문은 “나는 너를 애굽 땅, 종 되었던 집에서 인도하여 낸 너의 하나님 여호와로라”라는 말씀에 담겨 있습니다.1 이 말씀에서 하나님께서는 영원하시고 불변하시며 전능하신 하나님 여호와로서 자신의 주권을 나타내십니다.2 그분은 스스로, 자신에게서 존재하시고,3 자신의 모든 말씀과4 행하시는 일들을 이루십니다.5 또한 옛 이스라엘과 마찬가지로 자신의 모든 백성과 언약을 맺으신 하나님이십니다.6 그들을 애굽의 종살이에서 건져 내셨듯이 우리도 영적 종살이에서 구출하십니다.7 그러므로 우리는 오직 그분만을 우리의 하나님으로 모시고 그분의 모든 계명을 지킬 의무가 있습니다.8
