문답 125 윗사람들을 아버지와 어머니라고 부르는 이유는 무엇입니까?

Why are superiors styled Father and Mother?

Superiors are styled Father and Mother, both to teach them in all duties toward their inferiors, like natural parents, to express love and tenderness to them, according to their several relations;¹ and to work inferiors to a greater willingness and cheerfulness in performing their duties to their superiors, as to their parents.²

윗사람들을 아버지와 어머니라고 부르는 것은 그들이 아랫사람들을 대하는 모든 의무에서 친부모처럼 각 관계에 따라 사랑과 따뜻한 돌봄을 나타내도록 가르치기 위함입니다.¹ 또한 아랫사람들이 부모를 대하듯 윗사람들에게 더욱 자원하고 기쁘게 의무를 수행하도록 하기 위함입니다.²

고린도후서 12:14

14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

14 보라 이제 세 번째 너희에게 가기를 예비하였으나 너희에게 폐를 끼치지 아니하리라 나의 구하는 것은 너희 재물이 아니요 오직 너희니라 어린 아이가 부모를 위하여 재물을 저축하는 것이 아니요 이에 부모가 어린 아이를 위하여 하느니라

데살로니가전서 2:7-8, 11

7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

민수기 11:11-12

11 And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?

11 여호와께 여짜오되 주께서 어찌하여 종을 괴롭게 하시나이까 어찌하여 나로 주의 목전에 은혜를 입게 아니하시고 이 모든 백성을 내게 맡기사 나로 그 짐을 지게 하시나이까

12 Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?

고린도전서 4:14-16

14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

14 내가 너희를 부끄럽게 하려고 이것을 쓰는 것이 아니라 오직 너희를 내 사랑하는 자녀 같이 권하려 하는 것이라

15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

15 그리스도 안에서 일만 스승이 있으되 아비는 많지 아니하니 그리스도 예수 안에서 복음으로써 내가 너희를 낳았음이라

16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
