문답 165 세례는 무엇입니까?

What is Baptism?

Baptism is a sacrament of the New Testament, wherein Christ hath ordained the washing with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost,¹ to be a sign and seal of ingrafting into himself,² of remission of sins by his blood,³ and regeneration by his Spirit;⁴ of adoption,⁵ and resurrection unto everlasting life;⁶ and whereby the parties baptized are solemnly admitted into the visible church,⁷ and enter into an open and professed engagement to be wholly and only the Lord’ s.⁸

세례는 신약의 성례로서, 그리스도께서는 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 물로 씻는 것을 정하셨습니다.¹ 이는 그분께 접붙여지는 것과,² 그분의 피로 죄 사함을 받는 것과,³ 그분의 성령으로 거듭나는 것과,⁴ 양자 됨과,⁵ 영생에 이르는 부활의 표와 인이 됩니다.⁶ 세례받는 사람들은 이로써 보이는 교회에 엄숙하게 받아들여지고,⁷ 온전히 오직 주님께 속하겠다는 공개적인 고백과 서약을 합니다.⁸

29 만일 죽은 자들이 도무지 다시 살지 못하면 죽은 자들을 위하여 세례 받는 자들이 무엇을 하겠느냐 어찌하여 저희를 위하여 세례를 받느뇨

로마서 6:5

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

5 만일 우리가 그의 죽으심을 본받아 연합한 자가 되었으면 또한 그의 부활을 본받아 연합한 자가 되리라

고린도전서 12:13

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

13 우리가 유대인이나 헬라인이나 종이나 자유자나 다 한 성령으로 세례를 받아 한 몸이 되었고 또 다 한 성령을 마시게 하셨느니라

로마서 6:4

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

4 그러므로 우리가 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받음으로 그와 함께 장사되었나니 이는 아버지의 영광으로 말미암아 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리심과 같이 우리로 또한 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이니라
