문답 173 믿음을 고백하고 성찬에 참여하기를 원하는 사람도 참여하지 못하게 할 수 있습니까?

May any who profess the faith, and desire to come to the Lord’ s supper, be kept from it?

Such as are found to be ignorant or scandalous, notwithstanding their profession of the faith, and desire to come to the Lord’ s supper, may and ought to be kept from that sacrament, by the power which Christ hath left in his church,¹ until they receive instruction, and manifest their reformation.²

무지하거나 추문을 일으키는 것으로 드러난 사람들은 믿음을 고백하고 성찬에 참여하기를 원하더라도, 그리스도께서 교회에 맡기신 권한으로 이 성례에 참여하지 못하게 할 수 있고 또 그렇게 해야 합니다.¹ 그들이 가르침을 받고 고쳐진 삶을 나타낼 때까지 그렇게 해야 합니다.²

고린도전서 11:27-31

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

27 그러므로 누구든지 주의 떡이나 잔을 합당치 않게 먹고 마시는 자는 주의 몸과 피를 범하는 죄가 있느니라

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

28 사람이 자기를 살피고 그 후에야 이 떡을 먹고 이 잔을 마실찌니

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

29 주의 몸을 분변치 못하고 먹고 마시는 자는 자기의 죄를 먹고 마시는 것이니라

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

30 이러므로 너희 중에 약한 자와 병든 자가 많고 잠자는 자도 적지 아니하니

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

31 우리가 우리를 살폈으면 판단을 받지 아니하려니와

마태복음 7:6

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

6 거룩한 것을 개에게 주지 말며 너희 진주를 돼지 앞에 던지지 말라 저희가 그것을 발로 밟고 돌이켜 너희를 찢어 상할까 염려하라

23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

23 또 어떤 자를 불에서 끌어내어 구원하라 또 어떤 자를 그 육체로 더럽힌 옷이라도 싫어하여 두려움으로 긍휼히 여기라

디모데전서 5:22

22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

22 아무에게나 경솔히 안수하지 말고 다른 사람의 죄에 간섭지 말고 네 자신을 지켜 정결케 하라

고린도후서 2:7

7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

7 그런즉 너희는 차라리 저를 용서하고 위로할 것이니 저가 너무 많은 근심에 잠길까 두려워하노라
