문답 68 택하신 자들만 효력 있게 부르심을 받습니까?

Are the elect only effectually called?

All the elect, and they only, are effectually called:¹ although others may be, and often are, outwardly called by the ministry of the word,² and have some common operations of the Spirit;³ who, for their willful neglect and contempt of the grace offered to them, being justly left in their unbelief, do never truly come to Jesus Christ.⁴

택하신 모든 사람, 오직 그들만 효력 있게 부르심을 받습니다.¹ 다른 사람들도 말씀의 사역으로 외적인 부르심을 받을 수 있고 흔히 받으며,² 성령의 일반적인 역사도 어느 정도 경험합니다.³ 그러나 제시된 은혜를 고의로 소홀히 하고 멸시하므로 불신앙 가운데 정당하게 내버려 두심을 받아, 결코 참으로 예수 그리스도께 나아오지 않습니다.⁴

마태복음 7:22

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

마태복음 13:20-21

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

20 돌밭에 뿌리웠다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 즉시 기쁨으로 받되

21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

21 그 속에 뿌리가 없어 잠시 견디다가 말씀을 인하여 환난이나 핍박이 일어나는 때에는 곧 넘어지는 자요

히브리서 6:4-6

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

6 타락한 자들은 다시 새롭게 하여 회개케 할 수 없나니 이는 자기가 하나님의 아들을 다시 십자가에 못 박아 현저히 욕을 보임이라

요한복음 12:38-40

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

38 이는 선지자 이사야의 말씀을 이루려 하심이라 가로되 주여 우리에게 들은 바를 누가 믿었으며 주의 팔이 뉘게 나타났나이까 하였더라

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

39 저희가 능히 믿지 못한 것은 이 까닭이니 곧 이사야가 다시 일렀으되

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

40 저희 눈을 멀게 하시고 저희 마음을 완고하게 하셨으니 이는 저희로 하여금 눈으로 보고 마음으로 깨닫고 돌이켜 내게 고침을 받지 못하게 하려 함이니라 하였음이더라

사도행전 28:25-27

25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

25 서로 맞지 아니하여 흩어질 때에 바울이 한 말로 일러 가로되 성령이 선지자 이사야로 너희 조상들에게 말씀하신 것이 옳도다

26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

26 일렀으되 이 백성에게 가서 말하기를 너희가 듣기는 들어도 도무지 깨닫지 못하며 보기는 보아도 도무지 알지 못하는도다

27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

27 이 백성들의 마음이 완악하여져서 그 귀로는 둔하게 듣고 그 눈을 감았으니 이는 눈으로 보고 귀로 듣고 마음으로 깨달아 돌아와 나의 고침을 받을까 함이라 하였으니

요한복음 6:64-65

64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

64 그러나 너희 중에 믿지 아니하는 자들이 있느니라 하시니 이는 예수께서 믿지 아니하는 자들이 누구며 자기를 팔 자가 누군지 처음부터 아심이러라

65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

65 또 가라사대 이러하므로 전에 너희에게 말하기를 내 아버지께서 오게 하여 주지 아니하시면 누구든지 내게 올 수 없다 하였노라 하시니라

시편 81:11-12

11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

11 내 백성이 내 소리를 듣지 아니하며 이스라엘이 나를 원치 아니하였도다

12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

12 그러므로 내가 그 마음의 강퍅한대로 버려두어 그 임의대로 행케 하였도다
