문답 76 생명에 이르는 회개는 무엇입니까?

What is repentance unto life?

Repentance unto life is a saving grace,¹ wrought in the heart of a sinner by the Spirit² and word of God,³ whereby, out of the sight and sense, not only of the danger,⁴ but also of the filthiness and odiousness of his sins,⁵ and upon the apprehension of God’ s mercy in Christ to such as are penitent,⁶ he so grieves for⁷ and hates his sins,⁸ as that he turns from them all to God,⁹ purposing and endeavouring constantly to walk with him in all the ways of new obedience.¹⁰

생명에 이르는 회개는 구원하는 은혜로서,¹ 성령과² 하나님의 말씀으로 죄인의 마음에 이루어집니다.³ 죄인은 자기 죄의 위험뿐 아니라,⁴ 더러움과 가증함도 보고 깨달으며,⁵ 회개하는 사람에게 베푸시는 그리스도 안에 있는 하나님의 긍휼을 깨닫습니다.⁶ 그리하여 자기 죄를 슬퍼하고,⁷ 미워하며,⁸ 그 모든 죄에서 돌이켜 하나님께로 향하고,⁹ 새로운 순종의 모든 길에서 언제나 하나님과 동행하려고 결심하고 힘씁니다.¹⁰

28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

6 Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

31 Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

이사야 30:22

22 Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.

요엘 2:12-13

12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.

18 에브라임이 스스로 탄식함을 내가 정녕히 들었노니 이르기를 주께서 나를 징벌하시매 멍에에 익숙지 못한 송아지 같은 내가 징벌을 받았나이다 주는 나의 하나님 여호와시니 나를 이끌어 돌이키소서 그리하시면 내가 돌아오겠나이다

19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

19 내가 돌이킴을 받은 후에 뉘우쳤고 내가 교훈을 받은 후에 내 볼기를 쳤사오니 이는 어렸을 때의 치욕을 진고로 부끄럽고 욕됨이니이다 하도다

고린도후서 7:11

11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

11 보라 하나님의 뜻대로 하게 한 이 근심이 너희로 얼마나 간절하게 하며 얼마나 변명하게 하며 얼마나 분하게 하며 얼마나 두렵게 하며 얼마나 사모하게 하며 얼마나 열심있게 하며 얼마나 벌하게 하였는가, 너희가 저 일에 대하여 일절 너희 자신의 깨끗함을 나타내었느니라

18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

6 그런즉 너는 이스라엘 족속에게 이르기를 주 여호와의 말씀에 너희는 마음을 돌이켜 우상을 떠나고 얼굴을 돌이켜 모든 가증한 것을 떠나라

열왕기상 8:47-48

47 Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

48 자기를 사로잡아 간 적국의 땅에서 온 마음과 온 뜻으로 주께 돌아와서 주께서 그 열조에게 주신 땅 곧 주의 빼신 성과 내가 주의 이름을 위하여 건축한 전 있는 편을 향하여 주께 기도하거든

128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

25 요시야와 같이 마음을 다하며 성품을 다하며 힘을 다하여 여호와를 향하여 모세의 모든 율법을 온전히 준행한 임금은 요시야 전에도 없었고 후에도 그와 같은 자가 없었더라
