문답 97 도덕법은 거듭난 사람들에게 어떤 특별한 유익이 있습니까?

What special use is there of the moral law to the regenerate?

Although they that are regenerate, and believe in Christ, be delivered from the moral law as a covenant of works,¹ so as thereby they are neither justified² nor condemned;³ yet, besides the general uses thereof common to them with all men, it is of special use, to show them how much they are bound to Christ for his fulfilling it, and enduring the curse thereof in their stead, and for their good;⁴ and thereby to provoke them to more thankfulness,⁵ and to express the same in their greater care to conform themselves thereunto as the rule to their obedience.⁶

거듭나 그리스도를 믿는 사람들은 행위언약으로서의 도덕법에서 해방되어,¹ 그것으로 의롭다 하심을 받지도 않고,² 정죄받지도 않습니다.³ 그러나 도덕법은 모든 사람과 함께 누리는 일반적 유익 외에도, 그들을 대신하고 그들의 유익을 위하여 그 법을 이루시고 저주를 견디신 그리스도께 얼마나 빚지고 있는지를 보여 주는 특별한 유익이 있습니다.⁴ 그리하여 더욱 감사하게 하며,⁵ 순종의 규범인 그 법에 자신을 일치시키는 데 더욱 주의함으로 그 감사를 표현하게 합니다.⁶

로마서 6:14

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

14 죄가 너희를 주관치 못하리니 이는 너희가 법 아래 있지 아니하고 은혜 아래 있음이니라

로마서 7:4, 6

4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

4 그러므로 내 형제들아 너희도 그리스도의 몸으로 말미암아 율법에 대하여 죽임을 당하였으니 이는 다른이 곧 죽은 자 가운데서 살아나신 이에게 가서 우리로 하나님을 위하여 열매를 맺히게 하려 함이니라

6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

갈라디아서 4:4-5

4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

로마서 3:20

20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

20 그러므로 율법의 행위로 그의 앞에 의롭다 하심을 얻을 육체가 없나니 율법으로는 죄를 깨달음이니라

갈라디아서 5:23

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

로마서 8:1

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

로마서 7:24-25

24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

갈라디아서 3:13-14

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

13 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 저주를 받은바 되사 율법의 저주에서 우리를 속량하셨으니 기록된바 나무에 달린 자마다 저주 아래 있는 자라 하였음이라

14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

14 이는 그리스도 예수 안에서 아브라함의 복이 이방인에게 미치게 하고 또 우리로 하여금 믿음으로 말미암아 성령의 약속을 받게 하려 함이니라

로마서 8:3-4

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

3 율법이 육신으로 말미암아 연약하여 할 수 없는 그것을 하나님은 하시나니 곧 죄를 인하여 자기 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내어 육신에 죄를 정하사

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

4 육신을 좇지 않고 그 영을 좇아 행하는 우리에게 율법의 요구를 이루어지게 하려 하심이니라

누가복음 1:68-69, 74-75

68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

68 찬송하리로다 주 이스라엘의 하나님이여 그 백성을 돌아보사 속량하시며

69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

69 우리를 위하여 구원의 뿔을 그 종 다윗의 집에 일으키셨으니

74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

2 너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아 하나님의 선하시고 기뻐하시고 온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 분별하도록 하라

디도서 2:11-14

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

11 모든 사람에게 구원을 주시는 하나님의 은혜가 나타나

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

12 우리를 양육하시되 경건치 않은 것과 이 세상 정욕을 다 버리고 근신함과 의로움과 경건함으로 이 세상에 살고

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

13 복스러운 소망과 우리의 크신 하나님 구주 예수 그리스도의 영광이 나타나심을 기다리게 하셨으니

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
