14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
14 But you say, For what reason? Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your early years, to whom you have been untrue, though she is your friend and the wife to whom you have given your word.
[x]MKJV: Yet you say, Why? Because the LORD has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously; yet she [is] your companion and your covenant wife. BBE: But you say, For what reason? Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your early years, to whom you have been untrue, though she is your friend and the wife to whom you have given your word. 15 And did not he makeone? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godlyseed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
15 ...So give thought to your spirit, and let no one be false to the wife of his early years.
16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for onecoverethviolence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
16 For I am against the putting away of a wife, says the Lord, the God of Israel, and against him who is clothed with violent acts, says the Lord of armies: so give thought to your spirit and do not be false in your acts.
[x]MKJV: The LORD, the God of Israel, says He hates sending away; and to cover [with] violence on his garment, says the LORD of hosts. Then guard your spirit, and do not act treacherously. BBE: For I am against the putting away of a wife, says the Lord, the God of Israel, and against him who is clothed with violent acts, says the Lord of armies: so give thought to your spirit and do not be false in your acts.
